At Home Troubleshooting

  1. Overwatered roots appear orange or brown and can collapse and rot

  2. Allow an overwatered plant to dry up thoroughly before watering again

  3. Your orchid may not be getting enough light.  Place it in bright but indirect light

  4. Discolored leaves are usually not a problem but entirely yellow leaves can be sign of fungal infections and should be carefully removed with vinegar or other mild disinfectant applied to the wound

  5. Aphids, caterpillars, and mealybugs can infest an orchid.

  6. An infested plant can be safely treated with a plant soap.

  7. If after 3 treatments, the pests persist, its better to throw out the plant before the infestation spreads to other plants
